Planning

For a long time, I've been thinking and praying about a finding a way to minister to Christian teachers. I've been mulling it over and finally today while I was sitting in a conference at church I finally had an epiphany! Why don't I start with a blog. So here I am. I want to share the things that I deal with spiritually while teaching. There are plenty of "teacher" blogs out there that discuss pedagogy and politics, but this will be a bit different. I can't commit to not talking about those things once in awhile, but mostly I will talk about spiritual matter that apply directly to teaching. Specifically things that Christian teachers might consider as the strive to serve Jesus with their whole lives.

I did some brainstorming this afternoon and came up with a list of topics that I want to cover while I blog about teaching so, I'll share that list with you.
  • Loving students and other teachers
  • Operating as the hands and feet of Jesus
  • Protecting your marriage
  • Seeking time for devotions amidst the piles of grading and paperwork.
  • Speaking life and not death to students
  • Grading like Jesus
  • You are a thermostat not a thermometer
  • Unifying spirit life with classroom life
  • Fostering community in the classroom.
  • Leadership and collaboration
  • Avoiding isolation
  • Gossip and Negative thinking
  • Praying for your students. Especially the EGR's.
  • Avoiding the denomination and other religion arugments
These are just some of the things that I want to cover. I feel like that we cover our students in so much prayer in the church but we barely give Christian Teachers a second glance. We ask our students to be missionaries to our schools, but we don't support the adults who are in a tougher position because we don't have the ability to say just anything to students. Our witness must be by the way we live our lives and how we conduct business in classroom.
